Meetings for asylum seekers and Ukrainian refugees

These meetings offer asylum seekers and Ukrainian refugees, who are here under the Mass Refugee Directive, safe places to meet and talk. As in all our meetings, children are welcome.

Here's how the meetings work

The activities aim to help participants get to know their city, improve their mental and physical well-being, and increase their social networks. During part of the sessions we are outdoors, while during the colder part of the year we are indoors. We invest a lot in creative work, as we know that this creates well-being on several levels. An important part of the meetings is of course the opportunity to practice the Swedish language

The aim of the project

We know that involuntary migration presents particular challenges. A significant proportion of the target group suffers from mental health problems, which can include severe stress, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, depression and other symptoms. Mental health affects physical health and vice versa.

The target groups also often suffer from a lack of information about the rights and services available in society. We know that the life situation, networks and skills of both target groups put them at risk of exclusion.
Through in-depth interviews and surveys, it has been clear that a characteristic difficulty of the target groups is failing mental and physical health, feelings of loneliness, exclusion, lack of social belonging and participation.
