Our purpose

Our impact objectives guide everything we do and help us develop and improve our activities every day. They help us focus our efforts and resources on what really makes a difference. After each semester, we summarize the surveys, observations and interviews we have conducted with and about the participants. We use the results as a basis for planning the next semester's meetings. By continuously developing our methods, we ensure that the participants receive the best possible support to achieve the impact goals.

Security in parenting

During our meetings, we work a lot on strengthening the participants in their parenting. By strengthening parents' abilities and self-confidence, we improve children's well-being and development. The preventive work is a long-term social investment that creates safe growing conditions for children. The exchange of knowledge between participants reassures them in their feelings and decisions. Parents can also get practical information about preschools, childcare centers and other matters concerning the youngest children. Positive interactions with the child strengthen the relationship and reassure the parent in their own role.

Social networks

A stable and secure social network is valuable and important in many ways. Psychosocial well-being is improved by contact with other people, it reduces feelings of isolation and loneliness, which can be experienced in a new country. It also facilitates a quicker integration into society, for example through natural language training, but also through the exchange of experiences. A broad network is important when looking for a job, as the majority of new hires are made through contacts. At our meetings, conversations between participants are encouraged. Participants are also encouraged to keep in touch with each other outside the meetings.

Language development in Swedish

Language training is done naturally and playfully through conversations with different themes during our meetings. It also continues during coffee and song time. Svenska med baby's method and materials are adapted for multilingual groups, giving children and parents without knowledge of Swedish the opportunity to participate and practice the language. Our inclusive methods give foreign-born parents the chance to make new friends and thus language training even outside our meeting places.

Well-being

Well-being is a key objective, which forms the basis for achieving the other objectives. When wellbeing is compromised, it is challenging to learn a new language, be a confident parent, approach the labor market and make new connections. Our meetings are based on a warm and welcoming environment, where everyone can feel safe. Community and social interaction contribute to improved well-being.

Employment after parental leave

Through Svenska med baby's open meeting places, participants are offered a social network that can help them find work or other employment. Through themes related to the labor market, studies and preschool, the meetings contribute to increased knowledge about employment opportunities after parental leave.
