Parents' meetings

Our parent meetings welcome you who are on parental leave and your child up to two years old. Children and parents from different backgrounds meet here. About half of the parents are usually new to Sweden and half have lived here for a long time or perhaps all their lives.

Here's how the meetings work
Parent meetings are around two hours long and we have time for singing, coffee, games and chat. And above all, we have fun! Even if you don't speak Swedish, you are welcome, it is a excellent opportunity to practice the language if you need to.

The purpose of our parent meetings

Parent groups are at the heart of Svenska med baby's activities. As in all our meetings, the main aim is for participants to exchange experiences with each other. The exchange of experiences creates an understanding of other people, the participants' social networks have the opportunity to grow and those who need to can practice the Swedish language. A community is created that allows participants to become better rooted in their neighborhood and thus in society. For many of our participants who are new to Sweden, this is the first time they have spoken to people with a Swedish background, apart from government officials or staff in the supermarket. We strive to ensure that half of the participants at each meeting need to practice Swedish and learn more about Swedish society, and that the other half have lived in Sweden for a long time or all their lives.

Our activities have a low threshold: they are free, everyone with small children is welcome, not knowing Swedish is not an obstacle, you do not have to sign up for a whole semester, you come when it suits you and your child.
