Svenska med baby is proud to present our new report on the parenting of newly arrived fathers and their important role in the lives of their children and in society.In the report, we meet four committed fathers from different backgrounds.
Despite 50 years of parental insurance, including dedicated parental leave for fathers, and other policy initiatives, we are still far from equal parenting. Unequal parenting has direct consequences for women's opportunities in the labor market.
Anna Sarkadi, professor of social medicine at Uppsala University, emphasizes in the report that fathers' involvement is crucial for children's development: "It is strange that we do not make greater efforts to include fathers more in parenting."
